Bernie Davis, Chairman

Welcome to the STLD!

The STLD was formed over 50 years ago with the aim of enabling the free exchange of information and ideas between television lighting professionals and associated companies, and our main ways of doing this are through our meetings and our magazine.

We hold meetings on a wide range of subjects related to but not necessarily about television lighting, and attendance at these meetings is usually free to members. Although most members do not have the time to get to all the meetings, the details get written up and included in the magazine, which gets published three times a year.

We email members with information about these meetings and other STLD activities so if you ever change your address please make sure you tell us. The STLD magazine ‘Set & Light’ is either posted to you, or else distributed by email link. We also add you to a mailing list to receive LSi magazine, but only if you opt to receive it. Please log in to your profile on the STLD website to check that your details are correct and to set your preferred mailing options.

The STLD will occasionally send out information from our sponsors about products and other activities you might be interested in, but we keep that to a minimum.

We will not pass on your contact details for commercial purposes at any time, and our GDPR policy can be found on the STLD website: Privacy

The STLD is funded through a combination of membership fees and sponsorship, and note that membership subscription is zero-rated for VAT, however it is tax-deductible as membership of a professional body that is relevant to your job. The committee are not paid for their services, although we do pay a couple of professional services to deal with the society administration. Our accounts are shared with the membership at our Annual General Meeting each year.

You can include your professional CV and contact details on this website in a searchable database; help on how to do this can be found here: Help Page.

If you have questions about your membership or STLD activities, please do not hesitate to contact the Committee using the following webpage: Contact Us.

So welcome again, and I hope to see you at one of our meetings in the future.

Bernie Davis, Chairman
