Bio

After six-years working primarily on Radio One as a Technical Operator, in 1988, I moved to BBC News where I started my path to become an LD.

With the closure of the Lime Grove studios in 1991 and the subsequent move to TV Centre, I was lucky to be taught by three of the original Lime Grove LD’s in my formative days learning lighting and vision.

Through out my years in News, I have been privileged to work on historical events such as the death of Diana, The Queen Mother and 9/11.

During my tenure in News, I have worked on such programmes as: BBC Breakfast, Victoria Derbyshire, One, Six and Ten, as well as Newsnight, Breakfast With Frost (Sir David Frost), Andrew Marr, Newsround and HARDtalk, to name but a few!

In 2021, after a thirty-nine year career, I left the BBC to what I thought would be a quiet retirement. Well, no such luck!

I have been lucky to be the LD (for News) over the weekend of Eurovision in Liverpool and the second LD in Cardiff for Jeremy Vine during the 2024 General Election.

In 2022, I started teaching multi-camera lighting at Ravensbourne University. I am so lucky to pass on my knowledge and experience to my students.
